Wike swears-in new HoS; partners with P/Harcourt Refinery on road repairs

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has charged the New Head of Service (HoS) to address all the issues affecting the welfare of Civil Servants in the state.

Governor Wike gave the charge, Thursday,in Port Harcourt during the swearing-in ceremony of Mr Rufus Nkewaraji Godwin as the new Head of Service.

Governor Wike, who charged the new Head of Service to justify his appointment, urged him to ensure that the facilities at the State Secretariat were functional.

He said the change became imperative because the vision and mission of the present administration needed someone who would implement them.

The State Chief Executive told the new Head of Service that he was appointed on merit, and urged him to instil discipline and hard work in the service as the State Government will no longer tolerate laxity among its workforce.

Governor Wike said he will hold the Head of Service responsible for any lapses in the service and congratulated him on his appointment.

The governor also charged the Head of Service to ensure that civil servant increase their productivity to justify the commitment of government in addressing their problem in the state.

In a related development, Governor Nyesom Wike, has promised to partner with the Port Harcourt Refinery Company to repair the Refinery Road.

Governor Wike who disclosed this when he visited the company, Wednesday, commended the Managing Director of PHRC, Dr. Bafred Audu Enjugu, for contributing to the repair of the East/West road at short notice, stressing that the State Government is willing to collaborate with those who invest and do business in the state.

Governor Wike charged the Management of PHRC to consider employing Rivers State indigenes now that the company is working in its full gear and has crude to refine. He said providing employment was one of his mandates.

The state Chief Executive also instructed the local government area Caretaker Committee Chairman of Eleme to clear all the road of refuse.

Highlight of the Governor’s visit was the showing of a documentary of the company’s products and activities as well as facilities tour of the company.
