UNGA 73: Nigeria’s economy managers engage international investors, rating agencies in New York City,

The Nigerian Federal Government delegation to United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) currently going on in New York (USA) will be having a number of side meetings today and tomorrow, Wednesday and  Thursday, September 26-27, 2018.

The meetings will largely be trade and business meetings with global investors, including Investment and Asset Managers and Analysts.

The first will be a meeting of the Business Council for International Understanding organised by the Nigeria Investment Promotions Council (in the morning) to create understanding between the Government of Nigeria, global investors and Think Tank analysts.

Ministers who accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to the UNGA and Chief Executive Officers of government agencies are attending the meeting where they will address economic and governance issues particularly those pertaining to Nigeria’s economic outlook, business climate and investment opportunities.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and other related officials will also meet separately with Standard and Poor’s Rating Agency and Moody’s Rating Agency while the Zenith Bank sponsored Global Economic Forum tagged “Nigeria open for Business” for foreign direct investors, domestic and international business leaders will hold later in the day.

President Buhari is expected to attend a rescheduled meeting on anti-corruption today, Wednesday.

 

On Thursday, Ministers, the Central Bank Governor and CEOs of government agencies will have series of meetings with relevant groups of foreign investors, Think Tank Analysts and Rating Agencies.

Government officials already in New York as at Tuesday evening include the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma; Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyema; Trade, Industries and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah and Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole.  Others are CBN Governor, Emefiele; DG Debt Management Office, DMO, Patience Oniha; Executive Secretary NIPC, Yewande Sadiku; and EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu; among others.  

The meeting of the Business Council for International Understanding holds between 9 and 10.30am at the Barclays International Hotel, Empire Ballroom, 111E, 48th Street, NY 100017.

The Zenith Bank Global Business Forum holds between 6.00 pm and 9.00pm at the Park Hyatt Hotel, 153W 57th Street, NY 10019.

Most of the other meetings are one-on-one meetings with foreign investors between 12.30 and 3.30pm at Lotte, New York Palace Hotel, 455, Madison Avenue, New York.
