UNICEF, others set to unveil ‘Nigerian 2014 Violence Against Children Study’ report in Abuja, Sept 10

Arrangements have been concluded for a joint press conference, tagged; ‘Launch of Year of Action to End Violence Against Children’ which will also serve as forum for the official unveiling of the ‘Nigerian 2014 Violence Against Children Study’ report in Abuja, Thursday, September 10.

The media event is to feature the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Ezekiel Oyemomi, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Eze Duruiheoma, the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, Jean Gough and the Violence Against Children Goodwill Ambassador, Professor Anselem Chidi Odinkalu, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

The event slated for the Bolton White Hotel, Gwandu Street, Garki 2, Abuja, is designed to formally unveil the final report of a comprehensive and nationally representative study on violence against children in Nigeria, initiated in 2014 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the National Population Commission, titled: The Nigerian 2014 Violence Against Children Study (VACS).

According to the event conveners, the result of this study will be presented and discussed with the media at a Press Conference to be addressed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Ezekiel Oyemomi, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Eze Duruiheoma, Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, Jean Gough.

Also to address the media on the issue of Violence Against Children in Nigeria is the VAC Goodwill Ambassador, Professor Anselm Chidi Odinkalu, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

The Nigerian 2014 Violence Against Children Study (VACS) examined the prevalence of violence against children and whether those affected were able to access support.
