The continued protests by students of the University of Lagos (Unilag) over the lingering lack of water supply coupled with poor electricity situation on campus has forced authorities of the institution to shut academic activities and put the institution under lock.
The senate, Thursday, it would be recalled ordered all students to vacate the school following the protests which had turned violent, as students reportedly barricaded the entrance gates into the institution.
The students who accused the Lagos State Water Corporation of deliberately short-changing them by cutting off supply of water to the school, also berated the school authorities for the continued epileptic electricity supply on campus.
The protests which started last week, was allowed to continue, even though the situation which the students were protesting against had not changed.
No date was given for the re-opening of the institution as the two gates into the school remained shut with no students in sight.
