All roads will lead to Umunakanu, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria, tomorrow, Friday, December 23, 2022, for the burial of elder statesman, academic icon and former Provost of the Alvan Ikoku College of Education and Dean of Education, Imo state University, Owerri, Imo State, late Professor Cletus Ngozi Uwazurike.
The departed Knight of Saint Mulumba (KSM), who died on October 25, 2022, will be laid to rest at 1:00 PM in his compound in Umunakanu, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State after a Requiem High Mass that starts at 11:00AM at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Umunakanu Owerre.
A notice, signed by Engr. Iyke Uwazurike (Son) for the family and Prof. Chudi Uwazurike (Brother), for the Uwazurike Dynasty, said that the funeral rites for the eminent scholar and former member of Nigeria’s Constitutional Conference, started with a Vigil Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Imo State University, Owerri on Thursday, December 15, 2022, and will continue on Friday, December 23, 2022, at 7:00 am when the body leaves Aladinma Mortuary for a flag stop at Imo State University, Owerri.
The body will be received at his residence in Works Layout Extension, Phase 2, Owerri at 7:30AM before being moved to his country home in Umualum Umunakanu Owerre, Ehime Mbano, where it will be received by the Eze-in-Council at 9:00AM.
The Lying-in-State for the departed Professor of Educational Management and Planning, Imo State University, Owerri, will commence at 9:30AM in his compound before the Requiem Mass at 11:00AM and interment at his compound at 1:00PM.
An Outing/Thanksgiving Mass will take place on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Umunakanu Owerre, to round off the well-deserved final farewell for the Ahaejiagamba, Enyioha and Ikemba.
The late Professor is survived by his wife, Dr Mrs. Ndidi Uwazurike LSM, sons, Ik, Chuma, and Chigozie; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Fresher Uwazurike, grandchildren as well as brothers, Prof Chudi Uwazurike and Bar Goddy Uwazurike KSM, sisters, Eziada Elizabeth Nwachukwu, Dr Mrs. Evelyn Nwadinobi, Dr Mrs. Justina Chukwu and HRH Ugoeze Ijeoma Aguh as well as Dr Johnkay Nwadinobi, Dr Eng. Johnny Chukwu, HRH Eze B. Aguh, Dr Mrs. Josephine Uwazurike, Lolo Chioma Uwazurike, Lolo Tonia Uwazurike LSM and Cindy Uwazurike.
Dignitaries from across the country will be in Ehime Mbano to pay their last respects to the late orator, author and motivator who has left an indelible mark on the sands of time.
