Hushpuppi saga: Report of investigation on DCP Kyari not yet ready – Police
The Nigeria Police Force has said that the probe into the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari by the FBI, being conducted by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP), is still ongoing.
A statement by CP Frank Mba, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, stressed that “the panel has not submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, as being wrongly reported in some news outlet and online platforms,” and, therefore urged the general public to disregard every story to the contrary.
He said that the “Force hereby reassures the public that the outcome of investigations by the probe panel would be communicated accordingly upon conclusion of the investigations.”
DCP Kyari was indicated by a court in the United States in connection with the fraud trial of Hushpuppi, a Nigerian international internet conman that has pleaded guilty and has fingered Kyari as involved in his dealings.
The FBI are requesting the extradiction of Kyari to the US to face trial.
