The Sokoto State House of Assembly has adopted a motion for the construction of a 42-kilometre road network linking nine villages in Yabo local government area of the state.
The adoption was after the motion was moved by Alhaji Abubakar Shehu (APC-Yabo) and seconded by Alhaji Atiku Liman (PDP- Silame) during the Assembly’s plenary on Tuesday.
While moving the motion, Shehu said that it was aimed at easing the suffering of the people living in the affected areas.
He stated that the road when constructed would promote the socio-economic development of the state.
“As we are all aware, road construction and rehabilitation go a long way in easing the suffering of the people of any given area.
“This road if constructed will link several farming villages that include: Magabci Sarki, linking Magabci Marafa, Kaura Jandu, Gidan Gwarko, Ruggar Gabas, Sire Mudu, Rugar Kijo, Zamfarawa and Gobirawa, all in Yabo LGA.
“Moreover, the people of these villages are predominantly farmers that grow several farm produce in commercial quantity.
“Therefore, if the road is constructed it will further boost the agricultural activities in the area and enable them to have access to markets for their farm produce,” he said.
The Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Achida, put the motion to a voice vote after which it was unanimously adopted by the Assemblymen.
