The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) through its Women Employment Branch (WEB), Monday, flagged off a 5 day training workshop for 130 women in Sokoto on diverse skills.
According to the State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Eunice Danmallam, the 130 participants are segmented into three categories depending on individual preference.
Mrs. Eunice, who spoke on behalf of the Director General of NDE, Malam Nuhu Fipko said, 50 of the participating women will be trained on Make ups, Gele and Events Decoration, while another 50 on Tye and Dye with the remaining 30 receiving training on Natural Organic Products, Stone, Beads and Perfumery.
According to Mrs. Eunice, women are cardinal pillars of every home hence giving them sound empowerment will help in ensuring stable community in the long run.
The State Coordinator of NDE also divulged that the first day of the training will be theory by their respective facilitators to be followed by practicals in subsequent days depending on the skills individual participants choose to learn.
While appealing to all participants to devote themselves to whatever they are going to be taught, Mrs. Eunice assured that some form of empowerment fund will be provided for participants.
Some of the participants, who spoke with our Correspondent admitted that the NDE is living up to expectations as one of the federal government agencies that is solely committed to building employers of labour rather than making people labourers.
Reacting on behalf of the 130 participants, both Malama Aisha Kanoma and Shaafatu Usman said it is a one time opportunity for all of them that will surely change their lives for better in due course.
They also appealed to the federal and state government to expedite action on finding speedy and lasting solution to the insecurity bedeveling the north and the country at large.
