Flames of Legacy: A Tribute to Chief (Dr.) Senator Tari J. Sekibo (Odo-abaji of Okrika) By Professor (Amb.) Mondy Gold

In the heart of time, a legend was born,
April 19, 1939, a day adorned.
Tari Sekibo, a soul so bright,
Ignited our spirits with his guiding light.
Across the lands of Ijaw, his name resounds,
A beacon of hope where darkness surrounds.
Through storms and trials, he led the way,
A tireless champion, night and day.
On that fateful day in 2013, we wept,
As news of his departure slowly crept.
Yet his legacy, a flame so pure,
Forever in our hearts, forever sure.
As President of the INC, he stood tall,
For justice, for progress, he gave his all.
Though his mortal frame may now rest,
His spirit soars, forever blessed.
In Okrika’s embrace, and far beyond,
His memory thrives, a bond unbound.
In the Senate chambers, he fought the fight,
For his people’s rights, with all his might.
The echoes of his voice still linger on,
A melody of courage, never gone.
Though he may have left this earthly plane,
His legacy eternal, shall forever reign.
So let us honor, let us proclaim,
The greatness of Senator Sekibo’s name.
In every deed, in every choice we make,
His spirit guides us, never to forsake.
For in preserving his legacy, we find,
The strength to rise, the unity to bind.
Together, hand in hand, we’ll carry on,
In the legacy of Tari Sekibo, from dusk till dawn.
