For a moment, it looked like Anthony Joshua’s comeback was over before it had truly begun.

The British-Nigerian recovered to stop Albanian boxer Kristian Prenga with a second-round knockout on Saturday night in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The fight was Joshua’s first since the tragic road accident in Nigeria in December 2025 that claimed the lives of two of his close friends and long-time team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
Prenga made a dream start, catching Joshua with a powerful uppercut that sent him to the canvas inside the opening round. The Albanian followed it up with another knockdown, leaving fans stunned and raising fears of a major upset.
Joshua, however, refused to give in.
He returned for the second round with renewed confidence, controlling the fight with sharp jabs before unleashing a series of heavy punches that trapped Prenga against the ropes. The referee stepped in to stop the contest, handing Joshua a remarkable comeback victory.
The win was emotional for Joshua, who dedicated the performance to his late friends.
“That was more than punch power. It was spirit, that was Latz, that was Sina. It’s been tough,” Joshua said after the fight.
The victory puts Joshua back in contention among boxing’s top heavyweights and keeps alive hopes of a long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury.
Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that contracts for the blockbuster fight have already been signed, with Wembley Stadium expected to host the contest later this year.
Joshua also made it clear that he is ready to face Fury, saying he respects his fellow Briton’s achievements but believes the time has finally come for them to settle their rivalry in the ring.
After months of personal pain and an unforgettable night inside the ring, Joshua proved that even after being knocked down, a champion can still rise.
