WAFU B U-20 Championship: Flying Eagles cruise past Togo to set up semi-final clash with Burkina Faso

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles continued their impressive run at the WAFU B U-20 Championship with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Togo on Thursday, sealing a place in the semi-finals.

After opening the tournament with a 4-2 win over Ghana, the Flying Eagles produced another strong performance to finish top of Group B.

The first half was closely contested, with Togo creating the best chance in the 38th minute, but their effort went wide. Nigeria also threatened but neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval.

The Flying Eagles came out with greater purpose after the break and took the lead just a minute into the second half. Muiz Adeleke continued his fine goalscoring form by finishing confidently to put Nigeria ahead.

The striker grabbed his second of the match in the 59th minute, rounding the goalkeeper after a quick counter-attack before calmly rolling the ball into the empty net. His brace took his tally to four goals in the tournament.

Substitute Abdoulaye Agbejoye added the third goal in the 85th minute, reacting well inside the box to put the result beyond doubt.

Nigeria’s dominant second-half display secured a deserved 3-0 win and a place in the last four, where the seven-time African champions will face Burkina Faso on Sunday for a place in the final.
