Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Campaign Council, charging members to extend Party operations to every ward, polling unit, and communities across the State for the purpose of sweeping the presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly polls next year.
He spoke Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre (EIICC) in Owerri, noting that the Council’s core mandate is to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Uzodimma, who described the APC as a formidable political brand dedicated to socio-economic transformation urged Council members to approach their appointments as a national service requiring discipline, strategic unity, and active grassroots engagement.
The Governor, according to a statement by Oguwike Nwachuku, his Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser Media, emphasised that campaign operations must move beyond urban centres into local communities to engage the electorate directly.
”Our Campaign Council must establish an active presence at the local government, ward, and polling-unit levels. Candidates across all levels—from the National Assembly to the State House of Assembly—must operate as a unified team to communicate our Party’s transformative achievements,” Uzodimma stated.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening political structures in Imo State to support President Tinubu’s national development agenda and secure a complete electoral win for the ruling Party
in 2027.
Earlier in his address, the APC National Vice Chairman (South East), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, reiterated that the primary goal of the Campaign Council is strictly focused on winning elections across all elective positions.
”The mandate before us is clear: to secure victory in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly elections,” Arodiogbu said.
He cautioned members against internal division, urging a bottom-to-top campaign structure that prioritises collective strategy over personal ambitions.
Echoing these sentiments, the Imo State APC Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, directed Campaign Council members to immediately initiate door-to-door outreach across the 27 local government areas.
Onyedebelu tasked the Committee with highlighting the administration’s key milestones in infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, and economic growth.
”This Council is not a ceremonial body. Our message must reach every community with discipline and respect for the people. We must listen to voters’ concerns, engage undecided citizens, and build a broad-based support network,” Onyedebelu insisted.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated body, Chief Chris Okewulonu assured Party leadership that the Campaign Council is fully prepared to execute its mandate without compromises or delays.
Okewulonu highlighted the calibre and experience of the appointed members, expressing confidence in their ability to drive maximum voter participation across the State and deliver a decisive victory for the APC in 2027.
Present at the inauguration ceremony include; the Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru and her husband, Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), members of the National Assembly, Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, and other members of the Imo State House of Assembly.
Others include the APC National and State Working Committee, Secretary to the State Government Chief Cosmas Iwu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie, members of the Imo State Expanded Executive Council, Executive Chairmen of 27 LGAs, former State APC Chairmen, National and State Assembly candidates of the 2027 general election and other Party faithful.
