Former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi was among the spectators at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday as Ikorodu City defeated Enugu Rangers 2-0 in an NPFL Matchday Six fixture.
Obi watched the match from the stands alongside Ikorodu City President, Sanmi Doherty, as the Lagos-based club secured all three points against the reigning league champions.
Images and videos from the stadium showed Obi following the match and interacting with people around him. He also took photographs with some fans during the half-time break.
Ikorodu City took the lead in the eighth minute through Aderemi Adeoye.
Ikechukwu Junior doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute to give Ikorodu City a 2-0 victory.
The result gave Ikorodu City all three points, while Rangers suffered defeat after winning their previous two league matches against Kun Khalifat and Ranchers Bees.
Obi’s appearance at the match comes as political parties and their candidates continue preparations ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) had earlier announced that Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, were authorised to nominate key officials for the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
