Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi has described the late Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed, as a bridge-builder whose absence will be deeply felt.
Mr. Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, said in an X post titled “Mourning Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed,” that the late lawyer, scholar and administrator who served with dedication and distinction, also “believed in justice, peaceful coexistence and the importance of bringing people together.
He condoled with the Baba-Ahmed family, noting that the passing of Mallam Nafiu is a loss to all, stressing that his demise had come at a time when Nigeria needs more voices for peace, understanding and justice.
He prayed that “Almighty God forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and give his loved ones the strength and comfort to bear this painful loss.”
