
The season which was originally billed to start on January31 will now come up on a yet to be fixed date.
However it is speculated to come up after the CHAN 2016 coming up in Rwanda from January 16 to February 7.
The absence of players prosecuting the CHAN 2016 is been seen as the reason behind the postponement as they are all drawn from the local league.
Cash crunch affecting the clubs, who are mostly owned by state governments, is one of the reasons behind a shift in the January 31 kick-off.
A cross section of players in the country’s premier league are opposed to the original start date for the competition, arguing that clubs clear outstanding payments to them as well as putting adequate mechanisms in place avoid the Taraba FC embarrassment
The Nigeria league season calendar appears not to be well thought out as it never resumed on scheduled dates for sometimes now
In the meantime the pre-season Super 4 will now be staged between January 20 and 24.
No venue has been decided as several state governments have indicated interests to host the competition.
