Community Health Research Initiative (CHR) in collaboration with Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for MNCH (BASAM) have called on the Bauchi state government to ensure timely release of funds allocated for routine immunization (RI) in the state.
CHR and BASAM made the call Tuesday at a meeting organized for stakeholders, Dissemination meeting on Routine Immunization Budget Scorecard held at Bagari Suite, conference hall, Bauchi.
They said that the routine immunization fund of N80 million when released should be judiciously utilized for the purpose intended to be fully achieved.
The groups also made a call which is contained in a communique issued at the end of the meeting calling on the state Primary Development Agency and Emergency Operation Center to ensure timely and regular meetings of the Finance Working Group, with adequate representation of local CSOs/Media as this will promote local ownership, openness, feedback and improvement of services.
According to them,”it is observed that the quarterly review meeting held in the state has not met the required target of 75% rating in the scorecard, and there is low participation of CSOs and Media during Monthly Finance Working Group Meetings.”
The group stressed the need for the ministry of health and its agencies in Bauchi state to support the inclusion of CSOs/Media in monitoring and RI supervision
They also appealed to CSOs to be proactive in engaging for optimum support for RI programs in the state.
