The Archbishop of Jos Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, Anglican Communion, Most Rev Kana Mani has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari and also be patient with the government, as the economic and social challenges will soon be over.

The Bishop who made the call at the 2nd Session of the 9th Synod of the Church in Maiduguri Friday, said Nigerians were actually experiencing hardship following economic and social challenges of fuel scarcity and poor electricity but urged them to be patient.

He said “I call on all Nigerians at all levels, irrespective of region, state, creed or faith, to give the Federal Government of Nigeria, headed by Muhammadu Buhari, the necessary support to move the country forward.” .

Mani said that the President needed the prayers and support of Nigerians to succeed, adding that things would change for good.

While commenting on the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war, he said: “Government must continue the commendable legal efforts to thoroughly investigate the crimes of the past, transparently prosecute accused persons, and hold the guilty accountable through the law of the land.”

According to him, though many people have been critical of the government’s anti-graft campaigns due to the hardship being experienced in the country, the war against corruption was, he stressed, very much needed.

“The past should be interrogated to have a better system. We cannot continue doing things the way we have always done them,” he lamented.

He said there should not be any sacred cow in Buhari’s war against corruption and appealed to the government to tackle the lingering fuel scarcity, address the drop in power supply and poor economy to win the confidence of Nigerians.

“Let the Federal Government of Nigeria work hard to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians. The perennial fuel scarcity which affects all aspects of the people’s lives should be arrested and a permanent solution proffered,” he further appealed.
