Senate receives Auditor General’s Report

The Senate, Wednesday, at plenary received the report of the Auditor General of the Federation on the audited accounts of some Federal Government Parastatals in accordance with section 85(2) of the 1999 constitution. The report was laid and committed to the Committee on Public Account.

Other reports submitted Wednesday include the report of the Committee on Poverty Alleviation and the National Poverty Eradication Commission and the report of the Ad-hoc Committee on North East Development Commission bill. Both reports were laid and referred to the Committees on Poverty Alleviation and Ad Hoc Committee on North East Development Commission respectively.

Also the Senate considered the request of the President/ C-in-C on the confirmation of the nomination of Chairman and members of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in accordance with section 2(2)(a) of the NDDC Act, 2000. The report was referred to the Committee on Niger Delta Commission and the committee is to report back in two weeks.

Five bills also passed first reading Wednesday. They are Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers Act, Treaty to Establish African Economic Community Relating to Pan African Parliament, Utilities Charges Commission Act, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency Act and Endangered Species (Control of International Traffic and Traffic ) Act.
