Boko Haram: US Congress men visit Maiduguri -To assist Nigeria in fight against insurgents

The United States of America (USA) Congress delegation has visited the headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole Theater where they discussed means of assisting the Nigerian Military in fighting insurgency in the North-East of Nigeria.
Speaking shortly after a closed door briefing with the Theater Commander, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru  and other  top commanders of the Theater at the Military Command and Control Centre, Maiduguri Tuesday, the leader of the delegation, Senator Christopher Coons said “we were in the Command to discuss and see how the United States will assist Nigeria in the counter insurgency war in the North-East.”
The US six man congressional delegation also has the US Ambassador to Nigeria on the team and they had a brief security briefing from Major General Attahiru.
Also speaking on their discussion, the Theater Commander said the visit shows the level of relationship between the United States government and Nigeria in fighting terrorism and insurgency.
He said “we discussed the counter insurgency issue with them and the US is going to assist us in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.”
