Jonathan appoints Peter Obi as SEC chairman

President Goodluck Jonathan, Monday appointed the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi, as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), to succeed Udoma Udo Udoma, according to a statement by the Presidency.

The appointment which takes with immediate effect also saw confirmation of appointment of Mounir Gwazo, as the director-general of the commission. Gwazo succeeds Mrs Arunma Oteh.

The Presidency also, Monday, relieved the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr. Femi Thomas of his appointment with immediate effect, while approving appointment of Mr. Olufemi A. Akingbade as Acting Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the NHIS.
