A candid advice for H.E Peter Gregory Obi By Chief Sir Polly Ubah

By 2026, full political campaigns for the 2027 Nigerian General Election will kick off. As of today, it’s quite clear that Mr. Peter Obi has no defined political party. His former political partnership with the current chairman of Labour Party (LP), Barr. Julius Abure is still on life support. The same thing applies to H.E. Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha from Imo State who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Both of them are literally floating politically. But unlike Peter Obi, Ihedioha has a formidable political structure that stretches all over Imo State called “Rebuild Imo Movement” which is threatening the Governor Hope Uzodinma led All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State. Obi has to start rebuilding his own structure especially now his close friends like Mr. Valentine Ozigbo has left LP and joined APC. For Peter Obi, Chairman Abure has successfully used the Nigerian corrupt legal system to hijack his Labour Party. A party that was once the darling and hope of the down trodden and ordinary Nigerians is no more because of leadership tussle and greed. For former Governor Obi, the talk of a merger should be secondary if he doesn’t pitch his tent with a defined and strong political party. LP right now is wobbling. You must have a roof over your head before talking about another person’s homelessness. As it stands today and politically speaking, Mr. Peter Obi is indeed politically homeless because Julius Abure we know will not let go of his grip of the almighty Labour Party. But all hopes are not lost for Peter Obi.

What can he do now? My advice to H.E Peter Gregory Obi is to look for another option because LP is still bleeding. That option is to adopt Governor Alex Otti’s Abia State Local Government election option which was first perfected by Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State. Governor Alex Otti successfully graduated from Governor Sim Fubara’s new political school by using Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to deliver a political knock out to Abure and his praise singers. Love or hate Sim Fubara, he is a silent political genius. No wonder he has been able to contain the political Rottweiler of Rivers State called Nyesom Wike.

Mr. Peter Obi and his core followers should start now to talk to the leadership of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Why Zenith Labour Party? Both LP and ZLP have similar objectives, goals and mission statements. The current chairman of Zenith Labour Party Chief Barrister Dan Nwanyanwu is not a newcomer in Nigerian politics. Barrister Nwanyanwu was the second chairman of Labour Party (LP) after its formation by the Labour Union and current chairman of Zenith Labour Party. I learned that as a result of the internal squabbles in the then Labour Party, the Party broke into two and that led to the formation of ZLP currently chaired by the no nonsense Chief Barr Dan Nwanyanwu. While discussing this scenario with a friend who is not a member of Labour Party like me, he informed me that the then Labour Party under the chairmanship of Barr. Dan Nwanyanwu recorded remarkable successes. Under Nwanyanwu’s LP, then Governor Mimiko of Ondo State was elected governor. 3 Senators, about 5 House of Representative members and over 20 state House of Assembly Members were also elected. That’s an impressive record.

The treatment to Mr. Peter Obi by Abure and his gang of LP destroyers is not only despicable but very deep. The worst political mistake Peter Obi will make will be to go back to LP and start romancing with Abure again. If he does, he should get ready to always watch his back. Once things have fallen apart, the center can no longer hold. It’s important to remember that Julius Abure’s Labour Party wasn’t a force in Nigeria’s political scene until H.E Peter Gregory Obi joined the party in 2023 or so. It was after joining the party that Nigerians started hearing again about Labour Party and within months, the Agulu, Anambra State born political maverick catapulted the once obscure dead political party to a party that threatened the existence of bigger political parties like PDP, APC and others. After the votes were counted in that 2023 election, former Governor Peter Gregory Obi garnered over six million votes and if not for Mahmood INEC’s abracadabra which was perfected by the corrupt Nigerian judiciary, H.E Peter Obi would have been sitting pretty today inside Aso Rock as Nigeria’s President.

After recording this impressive record, how dare Julius Abure and his gang of rascals try to rubbish the character and integrity of this unique Nigerian called Peter Obi. Does Abure still remember that the best performing Governor in Nigeria today in my opinion, Dr. Alex Otti, is a product of Labour Party. The party also produced Senators, House of Representatives members and State Houses of Assembly Members. Most of those elected members succeeded because of the same Peter Obi and his Obidients. From the look of things, it seems like Abure is following a satanic script written by an unknown individual or individuals secretly plotting to destroy a party the Nigerian youths and progressives once embraced as their only hope for the liberation of Nigeria from the hands of wicked politicians and the unknown Nigerian Establishment Members who remotely manipulate who becomes Nigerian President.

Peter Obi should immediately wake up, smell the coffee and do the needful as quickly as he can. The ball is in his court.
