Abe condemns Mgbuoshimini killings

Senator Magnus Abe

The senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has condemned last Monday’s killing of several persons at Mgbuoshimini community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.

Unknown gunmen had on Monday morning killed more than 12 persons, including a couple in an attack on Mgbuoshimini community, which came less than one week after two youths were killed in that community by suspected cultists.

Abe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by his spokesman, Parry Saroh Benson, also condoled with the families of the victims and the entire Mgbuoshimini community.

He expressed worry over the rising cases of violent crime in the state and called on the Rivers State Government to assist security agencies in the state with the needed tools to tackle security challenges in the state.

“The incident in Mgbuoshimini is condemnable and should be condemned by every right thinking Rivers man and woman. Rivers communities should not be allowed to become haven for blood thirsty hoodlums.”

He further stated, ” rather than engage in blame game and name calling, let us come together to work with the security agencies to put an end to this evil from our people.”

Abe, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on FERMA, called on the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to join forces and ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to book.

He said, “The Mgbuoshimini incident is one too many and should not be swept under the carpet. We appeal to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to work together and arrest all those involved in the dastardly act.”
