In fulfilment of his campaign promises, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has recalled non-indigene members of staff in the state’s public service who were disengaged on the basis of their states of origin.
It would be recalled that during the electioneering campaign, the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the gubernatorial flag-bearer promised to recall non-indigenes that were disengaged from service by the previous administrations of the state.
A statement signed by Godwin Adindu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and made available to Global Patriot Newspapers, said Ikpeazu has reinstated all the non-indigenes at the state Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB), totalling 102 staff and they have all been paid their June salary.
In the same vein, out of the 295 non-indigene staff formally in the employment of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), 63 have been cleared for reinstatement and are set to receive their July salary while the rest will also be reinstated immediately after being cleared by the auditor-general of the local government.
These measures are in line with the governor’s policy of making Abia a home for all and a comfortable state where the hopes and aspiration of all law abiding residents will be guaranteed.
