
Vice-Chancellor of the Abia State University, Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu has acknowledged receipt of some books and journals donated by United States of America (USA)-based alumnus, Dr Emeka Boris Orji.
Dr. Boris Orji, a practicing physician, is also the International President of Zenith Environmental and Social Protection Network (ZESPRONET) which has executed and is still executing some projects in the University, aimed at providing a conducive environment for students to pursue their academics.
The projects include a completed and commissioned state of the art hostel for post graduate students and a planned solar powered streetlighting project which was flagged off recently.
Speaking while handing over the books and journals to the Deputy Provost, College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) of the institution, Professor B. O. Ekpo, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated Dr Boris Orji for his good gestures and continued support to the University and encouraged other Alumnus of Abia State University to follow this worthy example.
He prayed God to continue to bless the donor and keep him in sound health, assuring that the materials will be put to judicious use.
Professor B. O. Ekpo, the Deputy Provost CMHS, speaking on behalf of the Provost, Professor S. N`. Onwere, thanked Dr Emeka Boris Orji and the Vice-Chancellor, adding that the journals came in at the proper time, especially as the University prepares for another round of National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise in the College.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration, Professor Ogbonna Onuoha, the Registrar, Dr Acho Elendu, Bursar, Mr. Chuks Nwaogwugwu and the University Librarian were all present during the brief reception.
The books and journals are said be worth about $5500 (Five Thousand, Five Hundred US Dollars).
