Abuja crash: Pilot is a hero – eye witness; It’s military aircraft, Minister confirms

The Pilot of a military aircraft that crashed within the vicinity of the Abuja, Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport has been adjudged a hero by an eye witness to the fatal crash.
The aircraft, which Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika confirmed to be a military aircraft, King Air 350, according to the witness, Imoleayo Michael, was heading towards a residential area and would, thus, have crashed into buildings resulting in a higher number of fatalities, but that they saw the brave Pilot maneuver the plane away from that course to a bushy area where it crashed and burst into flames.
All onboard the aircraft are feared dead.
Michael tweeted on his Twitter handle “The pilot is a hero!
“This aircraft should have crashed into the residential area but we watched him maneuver into a free bush to crash.”
Senator Sirika, who confirmed the crash on his Twitter handle tweeted: “A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna.
“It appears to be fatal.
“We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any.”
