Adamawa Police refute viral claim of CAN Chairman’s attack
The Adamawa State Police Command has clarified that reports claiming the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by terrorists are false.
The police made the statement on Saturday through their Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, describing the viral social media post as malicious and intended to create panic and religious tension among residents.
The claim originated from a Facebook account named “Lionman Lioni”, which alleged that Fulani terrorists had killed the CAN chairman. Nguroje confirmed that the report is completely unfounded. The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, verified that no such incident has occurred anywhere in Adamawa State.
Authorities have, therefore, urged the public to disregard the post and to verify information from credible sources before sharing news online.
“The Command has launched an investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for spreading this false information,” the statement added.
The police also reassured residents that they remain committed to maintaining peace and security throughout the state.
