Mr. Bello Dalijan, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone 10, with headquarters in Sokoto, has restated the commitment of the police toward ending banditry and kidnapping in the zone.
Dalijan, whose command covers Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, made the assertion after his courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigeria Army, Sokoto, Maj.-Gen. Uwem Bassey on Tuesday.
The AIG told journalists that the visit followed his recent deployment to zone 10 and in line with the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, that there should be synergy among security agencies.
“As you all know, it is in line of duty that once you are deployed to another area of responsibility one has to familiarise himself with the terrain.
“Police are the key players and stakeholders in fighting crime and criminality and the military are our partners in progress.
“So, that is why I have to visit the GOC to synergise and discuss areas of collaboration in line with our collective mandate of fighting crime and criminality, as directed by the I-G,” he said.
Dalijan further said that the zonal command would continue to work closely with all sister security agencies in the zone in order to ensure all criminal elements were brought to book soon.
He appealed to the general public to sustain the personnel of security agencies in prayers in view of their hazardous tasks and to continue to provide information that would assist in the arrest of suspected criminals.
