In line with its vision to continually enrich customers through the provision of exceptional services, leading telecoms service provider, Airtel Nigeria, has launched a new mobile application branded ‘MyAds PAY;’ an advertisement platform which offers customers the opportunity to earn free airtime bonuses once they subscribe to the service and view ads when they receive calls on their phones.
MyAds PAY is a mobile application that basically converts mobile phones to a highly efficient and effective advertising platform. The service enables advertisers to reach current and potential customers with their adverts thereby creating awareness for their products.
In addition, Airtel customers who register by downloading the app will receive a still image advert whenever they receive calls on their phones. For every still image that appears on the customers’ phone, they will receive points, which can be accumulated and converted to airtime.
Speaking on the product, Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Maurice Newa described “MyAds PAY” as targeted communication which gives an opportunity to the users to get faster information about various products and services.
He noted that customers, once they subscribe to the service, will earn a point anytime the advert is viewed by receiving the call for at least 20seconds. Each point earned is equivalent to N1 and the customer is required to accumulate a minimum of 100 points to be able to convert the points to airtime”.
“Once the points have been accumulated, customer can request for a conversion of the points to airtime. The airtime is immediately topped up on the customer’s phone. For 100 points earned, the customer’s airtime is topped up with N100 after conversion”, Newa explained.
The service, which is first of its kind in Nigeria, is offered in partnership with SIDON Media Limited. Simeon Ononobi, Chief Innovations Officer of the company and founder of ‘MyAds PAY’ said he and his co-founders created the app in order to solve a huge problem between advertisers and customers. “The App will help customers get a feel of the brands objectives, and also help improve brand products with a great incentivized feedback mechanism,” he said.
The airtime redeemed from the accumulated points can be used for data, SMS and calls across all networks. To start using the service, the customer will be required to download MyAds PAY app on their phones from the Google Playstore and then follow the directions. The app is free and at the moment and it is only available to android phone users.
