Akwa Ibom at 34: Osinbajo storms Uyo to commission projects

Vice – President, Yemi Osinbajo is expected in Akwa Ibom on Friday, as special guest during this year’s anniversary celebration of the creation of the State 34 years ago.

Though the event will be marked without the usual fanfare due to the spike in COVID – 19, the state’s Information Commissioner, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said the occasion will be dedicated to commissioning of projects by the Vice – President.

Comrade Ememobong, at a press conference in Uyo, Wednesday September 22, 2021 disclosed that, the VP on arrival would commission the Ultra – modern 21 storey smart building christened, “Dakkada Towers” located in the Banking District of Uyo metropolis and the Luxury Estate on Airport road.

“On Friday, His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be in Akwa Ibom to inaugurate the Dakkada estate. When he lands at the airport, he will make a stop – over at the Dakkada luxury estate to perform the commissioning. The estate is designed to provide affordable housing for the people.

“After that, he would move to the Banking District of Uyo to inaugurate the Dakkada Towers. It is a smart intelligent building fitted with the best communication and security gadgets. When he is done with that, his official visit to Akwa Ibom would have come to an end”, Comrade Ememobong said.

Other projects also billed for inauguration are; the completed 25 Km Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road whose project was initiated by former Governor Godswill Akpabio, 12 Km Secretariat road, 2.38 Km road to Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Ekpene General hospital, Oil palm processing project, 2nd phase 45 metre span bridges, and 3.5 Km David Lawrence Crescent, etc.

Comrade Ememobong however, maintained that there would be no public holiday, as workers are expected to go to work.
