Akwa Ibom football family celebrates Akpabio @ 61 with colourful shield cup match

The Akwa Ibom State football family celebrated the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio as he turns 61 with a colourful shield cup match on Friday, December 8, 2023.

Senator Godswill Akpabio stormed the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, venue for the match alongside high-ranking members of the 10th Senate to a rousing welcome by football stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State and a large crowd of supporters who were delighted to receive Nigeria’s number three citizen.

Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association Normalization Committee, Otuekong Bonny Nyong extolled Akpabio’s uncommon achievements in sports infrastructure during his reign as Governor of the State, with special mention of the 30,000 capacity stadium which currently serves as venue for all International matches in Nigeria.

The Football Association Boss crowned his speech with presentation of an award plaque to the Senate President.

In his remarks, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio thanked the Football Association, the match organizers and everyone for honouring him with their presence at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.

Senator Akpabio preached the message of love, saying he was successful as Governor of Akwa Ibom State because he loved his people and so did everything possible to make them happy.

The Senate President who turns 61 on Saturday, December 9, 2023 announced mouth-watering prizes for the participating teams to the cheers and excitement of everyone present at the event which was streamed live on ADBN TV.
