Your Excellency, Rev. Dr. Peter Obada, thanks for your forwarded post captioned: “A MUST READ INTERVIEW BY ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU,” on the role Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu played during the NADECO era. It is indeed a refreshing historical reminder which nobody is contesting.
However, the role of Tinubu as elaborately expounded in the said post is NOT a constitutional and the electoral act 2022 requirement for the position of the President of Nigeria.
This apart, the concluding part of the said post that: “He had long paid the price for the PRESIDENCY of this great country.” is not only highly misleading, deceptive, misapplied, self-serving, mischievous and treacherous, it is also an affront on the intelligence of Nigerians and other discerning minds across the globe.
Many other notable people (dead and alive) played very crucial and more critical roles for the love of the country, and they have never used it as a bait to rule Nigeria.
So, nothing is distinguishingly peculiar in the role played by Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu more than what others did and even died for during the NADECO era!
In fact many renowned NADECO leaders like late Chief Anthony Enahoro, late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, Professor Wole Soyinka, General Alani Akinrinade, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar Rtd. and numerous others across the country, have never used the roles they played to restore democracy to Nigeria to hold the country to ransome like the ‘Emi lo kan’ personified is trying to do now!
If the truth must be told, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu has been more than enough compensated for the role he played in NADECO by the pro-democracy groups and Afenifere in particular, when he was aided to become the Governor of Lagos State in 1999 ahead of more favoured people like the late Engr. Funsho Williams, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, Chief Dapo Sarumi, among numerous others!
It is also instructive to note that having been aided to become the Governor of Lagos State by Afenifere among others, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu turned around to bite the fingers that fed him!
Is that the type of President Nigeria deserves at this time?
Meanwhile, the declaration of Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the President-elect of Nigeria by INEC’s Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, is currently being challenged in the Courts.
Ordinarily, one would have expected Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his supporters to channel their efforts to redeem his battered image as an accused/convicted drug baron and the grossly marred electoral process that produced him as INEC’s President-elect instead of their recriminatory image laundry that seems dead even before arrival!
There is hardly any whitewash that can now clean Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu of his opaque past including the source of his riches, parentage, schools attended with dates, real age, allegations of money laundry and drug deals amongst others.
No doubt, Nigeria and Nigerians deserve a better President at this time.
