The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared 33 aspirants to take part in the Rivers State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party’s screening committee completed the exercise on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
According to the final report, 65 other aspirants were not cleared after the screening process.
All 29 serving lawmakers linked with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared by the committee.
Among those cleared are Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol, Major M. Jack, Nwabochi Frankline, Tonye Smart Adoki, Hope Ugwumadu, Kenneth Minimah, Justina Okorji, Peter Abbey and Amadi Promise Amadi.
Others who made the list include Arnold Davids, Gerald Oforji, Opuene Thompson Atekebo and Amakri Awowari.
Some of the aspirants who were not cleared are Orubibanugha Timothy, Chime Ezebulike, Tonye Briggs Oniyide, Chris Ochije, Chijioke Ihunwo, Ideye Granville and Nwoziri Chukwuemeka.
Others disqualified include Prince Lezina Ngbor, Victor Jumbo, Claudius Princewill, Fubara Goodluck Ohaka, Chinondu Wokocha, Karibi Bobmanuel and Macsunday Ugwu.
The committee praised aspirants, party officials and security agencies for their peaceful conduct during the screening exercise.
The report also confirmed that the 29 lawmakers loyal to Wike will contest in the APC primaries for the 2027 Assembly election.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, is reportedly preparing to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
