APC shifts national convention indefinitely

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has again, postponed its February 26 national convention with the scheduling of its zonal congresses for March 26, 2022.

A letter from the party to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) signed by Sen. John Akpankudohede, National Secretary, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) notified INEC of the party’s plans to hold the congresses

“This notice supersedes our earlier notice for National Convention referenced: APC/NHDQ/INEC/019/22/14, this is predicated on the evaluation of our party Constitution.

“In furtherance to article 85 of the Electoral Act, 2010 as amended and in compliance with section 12:6 of our party’s Constitution.
“We hereby write to notify the commission that our great party, the APC has scheduled its Zonal Congresses for Saturday, March 26, 2022.
“Kindly arrange for your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly,” he said.

The APC zonal congresses are to elect the party’s zonal executives.

The national convention of the party, earlier scheduled for last year was moved to February 26, 2022 and has by the party’s latest communication with INEC been postponed again, this time, indefinitely.

Some chieftains of the party, especially those from outside the country are said to have already arrived the country for the national convention that would have held this Saturday.

The Caretaker Committee led by Yobe State Governor, Buni, was set up following the crisis that forced Adams Oshiomhole out as national Chairman. The committee was expected to pilot the affairs of the party was six months but have been in office now for about two years.
