The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has elected its National executive at a National Convention held at Women Development Centre, Awka Saturday.
The party at the Convention elected Dr Ikechukwu, its National Chairman marking the end of the Chief Victor Umeh era.
Former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku was elected the party National Secretary, replacing the hitherto unknown Chief Umaru Shinkafi.
Others elected into the Exco at the convention in Awka include the following: National Publicity Sec – Dr Ifeatu Okoye; National Youth Leader – Chuks Nwoga; National Women Leader – Obiagu Amaka Ezinne.
An Address Presented by the National Leader and Chairman, Board of Trustees of APGA, Chief Willie Obiano charged the newly-elected members to ‘bear in mind that Nigeria expects great things from us. Let us remember that we are gathered here today for the greater good of Nigeria. Let us remember that our country comes first.’
The governor also assured that ‘under my watch, we shall always strive to lay down the right fundamentals and ensure a strict adherence to the rules. We shall pull the levers of purposeful leadership with a view to ensuring the emergence of a robust internal democracy.’
