Aregbesola commissions Enhanced E-Passport in Washington, US; Says Nigeria is 1st African country, 5th globally to commence issuance

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has said that Nigeria is the first African country and the fifth country in the world to commence issuance of the Enhanced E-Passport.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Enhanced E-Passport in Washington DC , United States of America (USA), on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the Minister, a former Governor of Osun State, stressed that the document meets all the criteria set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The ceremony was witnessed by the Ambassador of Nigeria to the United States, Ambassador (Dr) Uzoma Emenike, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Isah Jere Idris, the Consul General of Nigeria in New York, Ambassador Lot Egopija and the Consul General of Nigeria in Atlanta, Ambassador (Dr) Amina Ismail.
