No fewer than 50 suspects have been arrested and 49 kidnap hostages have been rescued by the Bauchi State Police command.
Disclosing this to newsmen on Wednesday at a briefing in the Police Headquarters in the state, the Police Commissioner of Bauchi State,Haliru Gwandu said those arrested include 35 suspected kidnappers, 12 notorious armed robbery suspects, 5 Cattle Rustlers and one Police impersonator.
The Commissioner of Police also revealed that the location of Balmo Forest in Darazo local government, Buzum Forest in Ganjuwa local government, Yuga Forest in Toro local government and Yankari Game Reserve in Alkaleri local government provided a cover for criminal elements who perpetrate heinous crimes.
According to him, ” Proactive steps taken by the command through synergy with other security agencies, vigilante groups and other stakeholders yielded several achievements from July 1 2016 to date which include the recovery of 3 AK 47 Rifles, 1 AK 49 Rifle, 10 Fabricated Guns, 6 pistols and a Toy Pistol”
“The following ammunition was recovered which include 303 Rounds of Live Ammunition of 7.62mm, 6 Rounds of 7.5 Live Ammunition and 7 Cartridges.
” 4 Motor Vehicles were recovered which include one Dark Blue Highlander Jeep, One Red Honda Accord 92 Model, One Dark green Honda Accore 96 Model with Registration number AA-941-KRF, One Toyota Corolla Saloon Car and One red Honda Civic with Registration number ES-790-KRD Lagos”.
He disclosed that 171 cows and 133 sheep and goats were recovered along with the sum of N176,770, adding that other exhibits recovered from the suspects include Fabricated Master keys, Police Warrant Card, Complete Set of Police Uniform Boot, 11 Handsets, 6 Machetes, Wrestle Watch, 11 photographs in Police Uniforms.
