Bauchi sports writers mourn Abdulmumeen

Sports Writers Association (SWAN), Bauchi State chapter has expressed shock and sadness over the sudden death of its one-time Chairman, Mallam Abba Abdulmumeen who passed away aged 46years.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of SWAN Bauchi State, Mr Paul Orude, made available to newsmen Wednesday in Bauchi, the association expressed sadness over the untimely death of Abdulmumeen, mourned the death of the one-time Senior Special Assistant to the immediate past governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, adding that ‘his wealth of experience and contributions to sports would be missed.’

“We learnt with shock his death on Tuesday December 15, after a brief illness. He was a pillar of sports. Not only that, the late Abdulmumeen, a former staff of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) was a veteran journalist who contributed immensely to the development of sports as a journalist and administrator”.

According to sports writers, the late Abdulmumeen would ‘be fondly remembered for his passion for sports and his tireless efforts to develop sports not only in Bauchi but in the whole country.’

The deceased who worked several years as a reporter with the NTA graduated from the University of Maiduguri with BA in Mass Communication in 1994. He was Born on July 13, 1969.

SWAN ‘prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest while condoling with his family and the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi where the deceased served as a lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication before his demise.’
