As part of his Trade and Cultural Mission to the United States of America (USA), the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has been having meetings with political, business and health leaders in New Jersey.
He has had meetings with officials in the office of the New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy, with Congressman Donald Paine Jnr. and representatives of Newark Mayor, Ras Baraka, the African-American Chamber of Commerce, among others.
A highlight of the Governor’s meetings was the presentation of a Proclamation by Governor Murphy to him by the Secretary of State of New Jersey, Tahesha Way. The Governor was accompanied to the meeting by the Consul General of Nigeria in New York, Ambassador Peter Lot Egopija.
The Governor will continue with his Mission during the Ijaw Diaspora Council Convention 2022 which commences on Saturday, July 2, 2022 and ends on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Some of the activities lined up for the Convention include an Investment Summit/Symposium, Cultural displays, Keynote speeches and an Inter-Denominational Service.
Governor Diri’s Trade and Cultural Delegation is expected to proceed to Cuba to continue with the marketing of the State’s diverse investment potential before returning to the US for the return trip to Nigeria.
