Bayelsa police confirm abduction of Ijaw professor

NEDU MARK, YENAGOA

The Police Command in Bayelsa state has confirmed the abduction of Prof Zibokerre Daukiye, Chairman of Odi Compensation Disbursement Committee in Kolokuma /Opokuma local Government Area.
The command said the Professor was kidnapped on Friday morning and whisked into a waiting speed boat and taken to unknown destination.
Although no reason have been given on why the gunmen abducted the Professor, even as the family are yet to established contact with the hired kidnappers.
Also no group or persons have been linked to the abduction of the chairman, just as no ransom have been mention in the kidnapping deal.
Spokesman, Bayelsa state Police Command, Asinim Butswat, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP in a statement said a manhunt have been launched by a combined team of Marine Police, Anti Kidnapping unit and JTF, to rescue the victim and arrest the abductors. Investigation is ongoing.
Recalled that kidnapping of persons and expatriates has become a lucrative business in Bayelsla and other Niger Delta states as women children, politicians and the elderly are frequently kidnapped for ransom.
Few days ago Police authority in the state capital also rescued A chemical Engineer, Emeka Ezea male 37 years from the hands of kidnappers in Southern Ijaw locality of Bayelsa state.
The victims were kept in a camp between Azuzuama and Koluama, in Southern Ijaw LGA as One Emeka Ezea ‘male, 37yrs, a chemical engineer escaped from the abductors and trekked for two days before fisherman found and brought him to the Marine Police who were patrolling the creeks.
The Marine Police and the Anti kidnapping unit, have intensified efforts to rescue the remaining victims and arrest the kidnappers.
