Bayelsa State PDP Chairman, Hon. Cleopas, thanks Bayelsans for massive support

Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson
Hon. Moses Cleopas, Chairman, PDP, Bayelsa State

Chairman of the Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Moses Cleopas, has, profusely, thanked the people of the state for the massive support they gave the party during the last general elections, notwithstanding the daunting challenges they faced from opposition forces.

Hon. Cleopas, in a statement by Chief Nathan Egba-Ologo,  Director, Strategic Communication, Governor’s Office, Yenagoa, assured the people of the state that the Governor, Rt. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson and the other leaders of the PDP in the state would never take the people for granted but would work harder to deliver on their promises.

He promised that they will never forget or abandon those that lost loved ones in the course of the election and pledged that the government and the party would strive through every legal means to retrieve every of the stolen mandates of the people, urging patience.

The chairman congratulated all those elected to the National and State Assemblies on the platform of the party, wished them a successful and result-oriented tenure and dedicated the victory of the party in spite of ‘unprecedented onslaught’ to the people of the state, especially those in the rural areas.

Full text of the statement reads:

It is with a heart full of gratitude and deep sense of humility that I, on behalf of the Leader of our great Party and Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, the State PDP Exco and our teeming members, hereby thank the wonderful people of Bayelsa State for their overwhelming show of love and support for the PDP.

The love our people have for the Peoples Democratic Party is a long and enduring one, which you have continued to demonstrate in every election circle since 1999 till date.

The challenges and hurdles that were deliberately placed in your way in the course of your keeping faith with our party in the recently held elections were enormous, yet you neither wavered nor were discouraged. As a Party, we take cognisance of this and are deeply appreciative. As for those families that lost their loved ones, we want to assure you that the PDP will not forget or abandon you.

I want to assure Bayelsans that our leader the Countryman Governor and the Party will never take Bayelsa people for granted, rather we will work even harder to deliver on our party’s promises to the people.

We are sensitive to the fact that some of our teeming supporters in parts of the State are feeling despondent as a result of the brazen manner in which whole communities and constituencies were deliberately disenfranchised during the elections, yet results were written in favour of Candidates whom the people never voted for.

The PDP as true believer in the doctrine that the rule of law is the bedrock of every democratic society, is doing all in her power to legally retrieve all stolen mandates which shall be returned to the deserving candidates of our great Party. We therefore urge our people to exercise patience.

However, to all our victorious Candidates in the National and State Assembly elections, we say a hearty Congratulations and wish you all a successful and results oriented tenure.

Once again on behalf of our great party, PDP, I thank the resilient and brave people of Bayelsa State for standing firm and resolute in the face of unprecedented onslaught during the elections. We dedicate our victory to you especially those of you in rural communities.
