Benola Cerebral Palsy Initiative holds 2nd Annual Public Lecture, Awareness Walk
The Benola Cerebral Palsy Initiative held its 2nd Annual Public Lecture and an Awareness Walk, on Thursday and Friday, October 4 and 6, 2018 respectively, in Lagos, Nigeria.
The programs were packaged to commemorate the World Cerebral Palsy (CP) Day 2018 which had as theme “I Am Here / We Are Here.”
World CP Day was commemorated on Saturday 6 October 2018 and more than being just an awareness day, the promoters used it as an opportunity to, among others, celebrate and express pride in the lives and achievements of those with CP and the people and organisations that support them; create a powerful voice for those with CP to change their world; connect organisations across the globe so they are better equipped to meet the needs of those with CP and create new solutions to everyday problems.
Also the Day serves as a catalyst for social change and education campaigns that create solutions to universal challenges; as an avenue to, produce tangible actions and outcomes that measurably improve the lives of those with CP and, raise awareness of CP and the issues that affect people with the condition at local, national and international levels to create more inclusive societies.
The programs put together by the Air Vice Marshall Femi Gbadebo (rtd) led Benola Cerebral Palsy Initiative in Lagos, Nigeria, were well attended and resoundingly successful.
