Suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist gang have abducted about 14 women and two girls in Sabongari village in Madagali Local Government of Adamawa state.
A security source disclosed that the women were abducted, Wednesday, in a forest near Sabon Gari while they were fetching firewood.
The source said the women abducted were in company of two local vigilante operatives before their abduction, adding that while they were busy searching for firewood they were overwhelmed by gunmen and abducted to an unknown destination.
Another source who simply identified himself as Mallam Ahmadu said that two out of the women abducted had managed to escape from their abductors.
Ahmadu said the two women were in state of trauma because they were maltreated by the suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
He said the terrorists had a field day carting away the women when their escorts ran away for fear of dear lives.
He said that on sighting the gunmen who came in their numbers and were carrying dangerous weapons, the vigilante men took to their heels for the fear of being gunned downed by the rampaging assailants.
