The Operation Lafiya Dole theater command has organized a stakeholder’s security meeting in Maiduguri to assess its operations and strategise on how best to fight insurgency in the North-East geo-political zone of the country.
The theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Hassan Umaru, said “the meeting is the initiative of the theater command headquarters of the Operation Lafiya Dole to rub minds and strategize on how best to more effectively fight insurgency, more especially now that they are trying to handover the liberated communities to the Police, Civil Defense and other security agencies to facilitate the resumption of civil authority.”
Major General Umaru said “I would like us to discuss areas of partnership in the ongoing efforts to end the menace of Boko Haram terrorists. We all have the various complementary roles to play in this regard.”
The Commander said he has noted with satisfaction, the efforts of the youth vigilantes popularly known as Civilian JTF, stressing that these group of young men have made tremendous sacrifices and supported troops and the society in fighting the insurgency and should be supported and encouraged.
He said there is the need for relevant security agencies to interface with communities to identify and solve contemporary security challenges, such as crime, social and physical disorders to prevent overall neighborhood decay with a view to improving the quality of life of the people.
Also contributing, the Borno state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aminci Baraya said the issue of intelligence and information sharing is vital in the war against insurgency and called on all stakeholders to share information to effectively fight crime and insurgency.
Speaking, the state coordinator of the CJTF, Abba Aji Kalli also called on security agencies to promptly react to information relating to them in order to bring to an end the activities of Boko Haram terrorists, adding that they are solidly behind the security agencies until the Boko Haram insurgents are rooted out of the state and the country at large.
