The Labour Party (LP)’s Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi has urged the Aba Business Community to campaign for him and his party because they hold the promise of a new Nigeria.
Obi said this during a Town-Hall meeting with businessmen and Industry leaders and stakeholders in Aba, Abia on Friday.
The LP Presidential candidate said that his mission is to rescue Nigeria from the shackles of backwardness and set it on the path of progress.
Obi said his journey to the presidency is meant to restore the glory of Nigeria and save it from people who have no business in governance.
He regretted that poor governance had resulted in creation of more poor people than the nation had before this administration.
He noted that the stealing going on in the oil sector had set the nation backwards financially and taken it off the course of development.
Obi recounted the losses arising from uncultivated portions of land in rich agricultural states because of security challenges in Nigeria.
He promised to fix the challenges that corruption and other maladies had caused Nigeria when voted.
He also promised that Aba’s productive capacity which had dwindled remarkably because of poor infrastructure and the economic hardship will be rekindled.
Earlier, Dr Alex Otti, the Abia LP Gubernatorial candidate said Aba people know that the party came to reclaim Nigeria and to move it forward from consumption to production.
He promised that with LP in government in Abia, the state will ensure its people will live in comfort and harmony.
Mr. Obi also had oversubscribed meetings with Traditional Rulers and youths in the state.
