Senegal has won the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after beating hosts, Algeria 5-4 on penalties in the final match on Saturday February 4, 2023.
The keenly contested final of Africa’s home-based stars ended 0-0 in regulation time forcing penalties.
Senegal triumphed 5-4 on penalties to be crowned Champions at the expense of tournament hosts, Algeria.
Senegal is thus both Champions of the regular Africa Cup of Nations tournament and the Championship of African Nations.
Meanwhile, Madagascar had on Friday night defeated Niger Republic to win the Bronze medal.
First played in 2009, the Championship of African Nations is in its 7th edition and is organized by the Confederation of African Football – CAF for players plying their trade in their home countries.
Senegal dethrones 2020 winners Morocco, the North African’s failed to participate in the 2022 edition due to differences with hosts Algeria.
