The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has assured the officers and men of the Nigerian Army of his commitment to ensure optimal sustenance of their welfare and that of their families as they continue to render selfless service to the nation.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari is making concerted efforts to improve on their effectiveness and capacity.

The COAS who stated this in his Christmas goodwill message to the officers and men of the Nigerian Army made available to journalists Thursday in Maiduguri urged them to remain focused, resolute and more determined to get the job done while appealing to them to endeavour to discharge their duties in the best professional manner and in line with the code of conduct issued to them.

“I wish to extend my warmest felicitations and best wishes of joy, peace and goodwill on behalf of my family and the entire NA to you all as you continue to render selfless service to the nation. You have all responded magnificently in various rigors and dangers within the theater of operation. You have struck fear into the hearts of the terrorists and overcome the resistance of insurgency in the north east”, Buratai said.

“Your unconquerable spirit has attracted overwhelming admiration and respect from your fellow Nigerians. Indeed I am proud to say that the esteem in which the Nigerian Army is held today is higher than any other point”, Tukur added.

He also commended them for their loyalty, vigilance, integrity, dedication and professionalism that enable them to defend the country’s territorial integrity.

He also gave assurance that the families of those who have fallen in the line of duty would be well taken care of. “For our fallen heroes, I pray Almighty God should have mercy on their souls and continue to give their families the fortitude to bear their loss. We shall continue to support the families of our fallen heroes and ensure that their noble sacrifices are always remembered and appreciated”, Buratai said.
