President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev Dr. Felix Omobude, has called on the church and all well meaning Nigerians to support the anti-corruption crusade of the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Omobude who made the call while speaking with newsmen in Benin City, stated that the church needs to give spiritual and moral support to this administration in its quest to ensure that corruption is reduced to the barest level.
He urged Nigerians to purge themselves of all things that can engender corruption and reposition themselves in the right direction that will move the nation forward, better and greater.
On the state of the economy, Rev Omobude advised government to first of all carry out research, using technocrats and professionals to unravel the cause of the present economic downturn and come up with viable solutions to the problem.
He pointed out the fact that the nation has been operating a mono economy for a long time could partly be responsible for the present state of the economy.
To this end, the PFN president declared that it was high time the economy is diversified, insisting there was need to reawaken the zeal to make agriculture a viable option for the development the economy.
Speaking further, the General Superintendent of New Covenant Gospel Church, commended the nation’s armed forces for recording landmark successes in the fight against the dreaded Boko Haram sect, declaring that the security situation in the country has improved more than it used to be.
Rev. Omobude, who is celebrating his 70th birthday anniversary next week, however said that it is disheartening that the over 200 Chibok girls abducted about two years ago are yet to be released up till now.
He added that the church is praying seriously for the release of the Chibok girls, stating that one day, a revelation about them will come out and the world will know if they are still alive or not.
The quintessential preacher was quick to add that all those involved in the abduction of the Bayelsa teenager, Ese Oruru should be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land.
He called on the law enforcement agencies not to sweep the case under the carpet in order to serve as deterrent to others who take delight in taking undue advantage of under-aged girls.
On the issue of cattle rearers who have been attacking farmers in parts of the country, the PFN Leader said their activities have become very worrisome and advised the federal government to build ranches for them to graze their cattles, noting that doing so was the only permanent solution to the problem.
“I think it is time the government come up with a strong stand in curbing these killings that are senseless”, adding “people eat beef in Europe, but you do not see them parading their cattle on the roads or streets and invading other people’s farms”, Dr. Omobude added.
