Dankwambo denies manhandling Atiku supporter

Gov. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo
Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has denied recent reports suggesting that he manhandled one Ibrahim Suleiman Bage for allegedly campaigning for Atiku Ábubakar on social media in the State.

The denial was issued in a statement to journalists and signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Umar Ahmed Nafada. The statement distanced the state government from the alleged report.

The Commissioner said the State Government received with great shock, the media report which described the Governor as victimizing one Ibrahim Suleiman Bage.

Ibrahim had in a media report alleged that he was manhandled by the DSS in Gombe Government House on the orders of the Governor for campaigning for former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, a stalwart of the PDP.

He described the report as “blatant lie and a figment of imagination of some disgruntled elements who are just out to fan the embers of disharmony” between Dankwambo and Atiku.

Nafada said there was never a time that Dankwambo or any of his associates victimized or engaged in a campaign of calumny against the person of Atiku or any other person.

According to the statement, “There has always been good understanding and rapport between Governor Dankwambo and Wazirin Adamawa on both political and inter-personal basis.”

Efforts by Correspondents to get the response of Ibrahim Suleiman Bage were fruitless as Bage, who identified himself as “Pressman at Gombe Government House” on his Facebook profile, refused to pick calls put through to his phone.
