

The Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPCDA) Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed has said that there are many diseases of public health concern affecting Nigeria such as requested current outbreak of lassa fever, malaria, hypertatis among others.
Dr Mohammed said this when a group of journalists under the name Bauchi state public health media network paid him an advocacy visit in his office stressing that the state is currently battling with the outbreak of lassa fever and the global problem of COVID-19 which has put the Agency on its toes.
According to him, the agency has directed schools to reactivate hygiene practices and ensure constant hand washing among pupils as precautionary measures against these diseases in the state.
When the habit of hygiene is formed by the pupils and students, he said the rate of transmission will be reduced to the barest minimum, stressing that prevention is far better than cure.
The Chairman then reiterated the readiness of the state government to ensure that the coronavirus did not find its way into Bauchi state but warned people to immediately report to the nearest health facility any sign and symptoms of the virus for prompt attention by the authorities.
Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed said that the coming together of journalists to create awareness of public health issues is a great relief to the agency promising to give them all the needed information and data to report.
In her address the Chairperson of the Bauchi state Public Health Media Network ,Mrs. Bulak Afsa said as media practitioners are committed to telling people about diseases, where they can get help and how to prevent them.
“We will work and uplift the health standard of Bauchi through creating positive awareness and enlightenment in all nooks and crannies of the state so that people would be more informed on public health issues “, she added.
