The Controller of Prisons, Ebonyi state command, Emilia Adobi Oputa, in her address appreciated the Honourable Chief Judge and prayed him to make it a more frequent exercise, as it will avail more inmates who deserve freedom the opportunity to be granted same.
A statement by Iyasei Nneka C., Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Command, said that Oputu also admonished the freed inmates to reciprocate the kind gesture by turning a new leaf and becoming law abiding citizens, shunning all forms and acts of criminality and lawlessness. She also encouraged them to put to good use the skills which they have acquired from the inmates’ training and productivity programs to secure productive means of livelihood for themselves and their families.
The Chief Judge in his response assured the Controller of his commitment towards the course of decongesting the prisons, and promised to repeat his visit soon for the same purpose.
